How Should You Wash DTF-Printed Shirts?


Turn the Garment Inside Out


This is one of the easiest things you can do.
Turning a DTF shirt inside out helps protect the printed surface from rubbing directly against the washing-machine drum, other clothing, zippers, buttons, and other sources of friction.
It takes about two seconds and helps protect both the design and the garment.

Use Cold Water

Cold water is gentler on decorated apparel.
Repeated exposure to hot water can put additional stress on the adhesive bond and the garment itself. Unless the garment's own care label says otherwise, cold water is generally the safer choice for preserving a DTF design.

Choose a Gentle Cycle

Less aggressive agitation means less friction against the garment and print.
For everyday DTF apparel, a normal gentle or delicate cycle is usually all that's needed.

Use a Mild Detergent

You don't need anything exotic.
A normal mild detergent is generally appropriate. Avoid bleach and other harsh laundry chemicals that can damage colors, fabric, and printed designs.
Fabric softener is also best avoided when caring for DTF apparel.

Can You Put DTF Shirts in the Dryer?

Yes, but lower heat is better.
Air drying is the gentlest option because it eliminates dryer heat and reduces tumbling and friction.
If you prefer using a dryer, choose a low-heat setting. Repeated high heat can put unnecessary stress on both the garment and the transferred design.
And remember: the garment's own care instructions still matter. Always consider the fabric and manufacturer's care label in addition to the decoration.

Can You Iron a DTF Design?

Avoid placing a hot iron directly on a DTF print.
Direct heat can damage the transferred design.
