What Artwork Do I Need for Custom Embroidery?
Let's start by saying we don't expect our customers to be graphic designers!
Whether you have a professional logo, a simple sketch, or even a photo of a design, we'll help determine the best way to prepare it for embroidery.
In many cases, we can work with the artwork you already have or recommend the best option to ensure your finished embroidery looks clean, professional, and true to your original design.
What Files Work Best?
The best artwork for embroidery is a vector file, which can be resized without losing quality. Vector artwork provides clean, sharp lines that help produce the most accurate embroidery possible. If you already have your logo in one of the following formats, you're off to a great start.
✔ AI (Adobe Illustrator)
✔ EPS (Encapsulated PostScript)
✔ PDF (Vector PDF)
✔ SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)
Don't worry if you're not sure whether your file is a vector. Just send us what you have, and we'll gladly take a look.
Don't Have a Vector File?
No problem! Many customers don't have access to their original logo files, and that's perfectly okay. We can often work with high-quality image files or help determine the best way to recreate your design for embroidery.
We frequently work with:
✔ PNG files
✔ JPG or JPEG images
✔ High-resolution photos
✔ Photos of existing embroidered apparel
The clearer and larger your artwork is, the better. Even if all you have is a business card, website logo, or photo, we'll review it and let you know the best path forward.
Can You Recreate My Logo?
Absolutely. If your logo isn't available in a format suitable for embroidery, we can often recreate or redraw it so it stitches beautifully.
Before embroidery can begin, every design must be digitized. Digitizing is the process of converting your artwork into a specialized embroidery file that tells the embroidery machine exactly how to stitch your design. This process determines stitch direction, density, sequence, and other details that help produce a clean, professional result.
Depending on the complexity of your design, digitizing or artwork recreation may involve an additional one-time setup fee. Once completed, your digitized design can typically be used again for future embroidery orders.
What Makes Artwork Better?
The better the original artwork, the better the finished embroidery is likely to be. Here are a few things that help us produce the best possible results:
✔ Clean, easy-to-read lines and shapes
✔ High-resolution artwork whenever possible
✔ Larger images instead of small screenshots or thumbnails
✔ Correct spelling and accurate wording
✔ Original brand colors or color references, if available
If your artwork needs adjustments, we'll let you know before production begins and discuss the best options with you.
What Happens Next?
Once we receive your artwork, we'll carefully review it to determine whether it's ready for embroidery or if any adjustments are needed. If we have questions or recommend changes, we'll contact you before moving forward.
After your artwork has been reviewed and any necessary digitizing is complete, we'll prepare your quote and begin planning your embroidery project. Our goal is to make the process simple, transparent, and stress-free from start to finish.
Ready to Get Started?
Whether you have a polished company logo or only a rough sketch on paper, we'd love to help. Send us your artwork, tell us a little about your project, and we'll review everything with you and recommend the best path forward.
